Autocue celebrated a number of major newsroom system successes in 2010, including Rogers Media (Canada), Ghana Broadcast Corporation (GBC), and Lincoln and Glamorgan Universities (UK).
Following a rigorous tender process, Rogers chose Autocue to provide a standard NRCS platform for their ten stations, and rely on their system 24/7. GBC needed an integrated newsroom, transmission and media management solution to replace a manual operation – Autocue provided modules to handle everything from NRCS, through low-res browsing, shot-selection, news/ transmission playout, to complex media transfers between tape decks, servers, central storage and long-term archive. The universities wanted an end-to-end system from a single supplier at a reasonable cost. Autocue’s CTO Neil Hutchins said, “These new customers demonstrate the scope and flexibility of Autocue’s newsroom and automation products – we have been able to meet all of these different requirements from our single product range.”
Autocue also launched a range of standalone, linux-based video servers at IBC 2010, providing flexible and cost-effective ingest, storage and playout functionality. Neil Hutchins said, “We were originally asked to provide a video server as part of a complete workflow solution for a university. We saw a great opportunity to offer more ports, more storage and more flexibility at a lower cost than existing devices, and have now developed a uniquely different server solution.” The servers feature bi-directional, HD/SD, analogue/SDI ports with a range of storage capacities and are already shipping to customers around the world.
